In this course, we will assume a basic familiarity with the Gītā...
What you'll learn
Nature of the material condition and how it conceals the reality of the soul
Function of the ego in disconnecting us from past memories
Distinction between spirituality and morality
How to find true freedom via renunciation
Distinction between renouncing in the mind and renouncing in the world
Recognising three guṇas at work in different kinds of action
The Bhagavad Gītā is one of the most famous scriptures of the Hindu tradition. This short 700-verse dialogue between Arjuna and Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa distils key Vedic ideas into a cohesive picture of the nature and purpose of existence.
In this course, we will assume a basic familiarity with the Gītā and dive straight into some of its more subtle teachings. Chapter by chapter, we will visit lesser-known verses and unpack their hidden teachings as taught by Paramahamsa Vishwananda. From deep dives into the nature of the material condition—the way simple details like the need for sustenance create a completely different experience from the reality of the soul—to explorations of the true freedom found in restraint, we will probe the layers of teaching within the most famous ideas of the Gita.
For those who are new to the Bhagavad Gītā, we recommend starting with the Bhagavad Gītā — Foundations course.
