This course belongs to the Devotee Course bundle, which includes the essential prerequisite courses for initiation. Although you are welcome to take it as a standalone course, it is designed to work best as part of the full bundle.
In this course, you will learn what it means to be a devotee of Paramahamsa Vishwananda and the Hari Bhakta Sampradāya. You will start with an introduction to the key framework of our path: the Four-Armed Path, in which Knowledge, Rituals, Yoga & Meditation, and Devotional Arts work together to cultivate bhakti. From there, you will be introduced to some key scriptures of the sampradāya and a framework of comparative religion to help you speak about this tradition to others. Finally, you will explore the particulars of this path: the stages of qualification as a devotee, the Bhakti Marga understanding of dharma and sevā, as well as the various initiations and customs of our tradition. Here you will also learn about the specific expectations of a devotee in this sampradāya.
The lessons in this course are mostly introductions, designed to gently bring you into key themes, provoke some critical thinking, and clarify some of the most important principles of our lineage. For those who end up deciding to take initiation, it is the universal foundation that ensures all devotees are aligned to the same core principles before beginning the next phase of their learning journey with Bhakti Marga.
